Biblical Discernment
Harvest of Asher

The Word of God provides us with spiritual tools for discerning the present as well as practical preparation for the future. The scriptures focus on the life of the individual in relation to their surroundings, they invite a person to examine his personal path and to choose wisely how to live in faithfulness with biblical discernment even as the surrounding reality changes.

In 1 Corinthians 3:1–9, the apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of spiritual maturity. He presents a process of growth in which a person learns to deepen his faith and to base his life on God rather than on human structures alone. This maturity does not cancel involvement in the world, but enables balanced and thoughtful conduct within it. In a world where money, technology, and power influence daily life, faith invites a sober approach in which spiritual values guide decisions rather than the reverse.

In Revelation 2:8–11, Yeshua addresses the community of Smyrna with words of encouragement and strengthening. He acknowledges the complex reality in which they live and reminds them that they are seen and known before God. The life of Messianic faith, as portrayed here, grants the individual and the community inner stability and hope even in times of uncertainty. The recent years, marked by pandemics, wars, and economic upheavals, have sharpened the need for a spiritual anchor that depends on the Word of God.

Later in the book of Revelation, in chapter 13, a broad description is presented of a global reality in which economy, identity, and social participation are intertwined. This description invites contemplation and spiritual discernment, and emphasizes the importance of inner identity and faithfulness to values that do not change. From the way of life and path of Yeshua the Messiah arises inspiration for a life of truth, integrity, and simplicity, enabling a person to stand in a changing world, stable in God's ways.

Technological development and the growing transition to digital systems raise the question of identity and freedom, and how to function on a daily basis. Technological tools and new means of payment can make life easier, yet we must be cautious and examine their impact on us as individuals and to the community as a whole. As Believers in Yeshua, we are responsible to pause and reflect on technology, viewing it as a means rather than a goal, and seeking to preserve a space of humanity, connection, and mutual responsibility even in an age of accelerated innovation.

Here a general spiritual principle can be seen: participation in economic and social systems is meant to remain the fruit of free and conscious choice, guided by the direction of the Spirit of the Lord and in accordance with the Scriptures. The Messianic faith directs the believer to examine the times in which he lives and to act through faithfulness and spiritual discernment. From this develops a sensitivity to discern when it is right to participate in certain technological or financial systems, and when it is right to set a boundary and even choose not to participate; not out of opposition or fear, but out of obedience and attentiveness to the word of the Lord.

Looking ahead, Believers may find themselves choosing to live outside the circles of the digital world and crypto, living lives where prayer, study and mutual responsibility are prioritized, not as an escape from the world, but as a simpler and more connected way of life.

Thus it becomes clear that the biblical calling and walk in the way of Messianic Believers directs a person toward a life of alertness, conscious choice and ongoing attentiveness to the guidance of the Spirit of the Lord. Within a changing global reality, the believer is called to examine his ways in light of the Scriptures, to maintain a clear inner identity, and to act with faithfulness and responsibility in every area of life. For individuals and communities alike, this path opens the possibility for simple, connected, and sustaining forms of life, founded on trust, partnership, and daily walking in the way that was revealed in Yeshua.
