Waking with Yeshua
Harvest of Asher

When we read the words of Paul the apostle in 2 Corinthians 13:5, we touch a deep truth about the way God works and about what life in Yeshua looks like. Paul addresses the congregation and invites the believers to examine themselves and see whether Yeshua lives in them. Walking with Yeshua is revealed in the living presence of the Messiah in a person’s life.

At the heart of the chapter Paul presents a truth which illuminates the life of the believer and the way of Yeshua Himself. He says that Yeshua was crucified in weakness but lives and acts in the power of God (2 Corinthians 13:4). So too we as Believers, trusting in Yeshua are enabled to act through our weakness in the power of God. Human weakness is not something to hide but a place where God's strength is revealed.

Yeshua says in the Gospel of John to His disciples that whatever they ask of the Father in His name will be given to them (John 15:16). When the believer abides in Yeshua and the Spirit lives in him, the request and the action align with the will of the Father and are carried out with spiritual authority, in Yeshua's name.

Thus the full picture of the life of faith is revealed. God works through an open heart, the Spirit is the one who fills the believer with power, and the name of Yeshua is the authority by which we act. Paul emphasizes in chapter 13 that the purpose of all spiritual leadership is building, strengthening, and restoration in love (2 Corinthians 13:10).

Life in Yeshua is a life in which we continually rely on God and allow him to lead us. Out of this dependence spiritual strength is born, and from it comes fruit that brings glory to God. This is the way in which the Messiah himself walked, and this is the way in which he also invites us to walk with him.

Paul concludes the chapter with a blessing that sums up the entire message: the Grace of the Lord Yeshua Ha’Mashiach, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you (2 Corinthians 13:13). This is the essence of the life that God invites us to live, a life of relationship with the Father through the Son and under the leading of the Spirit. Are we truly walking with Yeshua, allowing His Spirit to lead our lives?
